Data Deletion Policy

Account Deletion

You have the option to delete your account directly through your Account Settings. However, please note that deleting your account does not automatically remove all of your data from our systems.

How We Handle Your Data

By default, we retain your data even after account deletion to ensure service continuity and compliance with regulatory requirements. Your data will remain in our systems unless you specifically request its deletion.

How to Request Data Deletion

If you wish to have your data permanently removed from our systems, please follow these steps:

Contact our Data Protection Team:
  • Email: contact@depts.zecto.io

  • Subject: Data Deletion Request

  • Include: Your account details (registered email address) and a clear statement requesting data deletion

What Happens Next

  1. Acknowledgment: The appropriate department will receive your request and contact you within 24-72 hours to confirm receipt and verify your identity.

  2. Processing Time: Complete data removal typically takes 15-30 days from the date of confirmation. In some cases, this process may take longer if required by regulatory authorities or legal obligations.

  3. Completion Notice: You will be notified once the data deletion process is complete.

What Data Will Be Deleted

Upon completion of your data deletion request, the following information will be permanently removed:

  • All account information associated with your profile

  • Company information registered with Zecto

  • Service usage data and records

  • Communication history and preferences

  • Any other personal data stored in our systems

Telecommunications Assets and Regulatory Compliance

Shortcodes, Alphanumeric Sender IDs, and Voice DIDs

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to regulatory requirements imposed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and telecommunications regulations, the following assets are subject to special handling:

Assets Dedicated to Your Account
If you have been assigned dedicated telecommunications assets including, but not limited to:
  • SMS Shortcodes

  • Alphanumeric Sender IDs

  • Voice DIDs (Direct Inward Dialing Numbers)

  • Other regulated telecommunications identifiers

These assets will be handled as follows upon data deletion:

1. Nullification and Deactivation:

  • All dedicated telecommunications assets assigned to your account will be permanently nullified in our systems

  • These assets will be marked as inactive and retired

  • The assets will cease to function and cannot be reactivated under any circumstances

  • No messages, calls, or communications will be processed through these identifiers following nullification

2. Non-Transferability: Pursuant to regulations established by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), you cannot transfer, reassign, or port these telecommunications assets to any other service provider or telecommunications operator.

These assets are:

  • Licensed exclusively to Zecto Communication (Pvt) Ltd

  • Bound to our regulatory license and infrastructure

  • Non-transferable by legal and regulatory mandate

  • Permanently tied to our PTA-issued licenses and approvals

3. Permanent Retirement: Once nullified, these telecommunications assets:

  • Cannot be reused by any other customer or provider

  • Will remain retired in telecommunications registries

  • Are permanently removed from circulation

  • Cannot be reclaimed, reactivated, or repurposed

4. Regulatory Compliance: This policy is mandated by and in full compliance with:

  • Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) regulations

  • Telecommunications licensing requirements

  • National telecommunications infrastructure guidelines

  • Anti-fraud and security protocols

5. No Alternative Arrangements: There are no exceptions, transfers, or alternative arrangements available for these assets. This is a non-negotiable requirement of our telecommunications license and regulatory framework.

WhatsApp Business API

Special Provisions for WhatsApp Services:

WhatsApp Business API phone numbers operate under different regulatory frameworks:

  • Ownership: WhatsApp sender IDs (phone numbers) are registered to you and remain your property

  • Portability: You retain the right to use these phone numbers with any other WhatsApp Business Solution Provider (BSP)

  • Data Deletion: All information, configurations, and data related to your WhatsApp services stored in our systems will be permanently removed upon request

  • Transfer: You may migrate your WhatsApp Business Account to another BSP following Meta's official migration procedures

Note: While your WhatsApp phone number can be transferred, all message history, templates, configurations, and related data stored on Zecto's infrastructure will be irreversibly deleted.

Data Retention for Legal Compliance

In certain circumstances, we may be required to retain specific data to comply with:

  • Legal obligations and court orders

  • Regulatory requirements mandated by PTA or other authorities

  • Ongoing investigations, audits, or disputes

  • Tax, accounting, and financial regulations

  • Telecommunications licensing requirements

If such requirements apply to your data, we will inform you during the deletion process and retain only the minimum necessary information for the legally required period.

Your Rights

Subject to applicable laws and regulations, you have the right to:

  • Request confirmation of what data we hold about you

  • Request correction of inaccurate data

  • Withdraw consent for data processing (where applicable)

  • Lodge a complaint with relevant data protection authorities

  • Receive information about our data processing activities

Dispute Resolution

If you disagree with any aspect of the data deletion process, particularly regarding telecommunications assets, you may:

  • Contact our legal compliance team at contact@depts.zecto.io

  • Submit a formal complaint to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)

  • Seek independent legal counsel regarding your rights and obligations
